Wow, this is the closest posts have been together in a while.
I was doing some research the past couple of days, and while I did mention in the last post that I was looking at OPNsense vs. OpenWrt, realizing that OPNsense needs more resources means that I’ll stick to OpenWrt for the firewall VM.
I am definitely going with the Fitlet3, and I did the math: I’ll be able to wedge a DC, a dedicated Pi-Hole VM, a Plex server, and OpenWrt into 8 GB with room left over for the host itself. If the difference up to 16 GB is such a small amount, however, I’ll go with that instead.
This is likely not going to happen until sometime next year, but it’s good to get the logistics figured out well ahead of time.
